Creating Harmony in Our Lives: A Journey of Self-Care and Intention

In our fast-paced and often chaotic lives, finding harmony and balance can seem unachievable. However, by prioritizing our own wellbeing, embracing our spiritual beings, and aligning our environments with positive energy, we can create a sense of harmony day-by-day. 

This blog is about my transformative journey of self-care, spiritual exploration, and how Feng Shui helped me cultivate a harmonious and fulfilling life. I’m sharing it with you as a way to connect and to reassure you that there is attainable support within reach.

 

Putting Yourself First:
Your Health Is Your Wealth

For over 26 years, I struggled with the Hepatitis C virus, which led me to explore the spiritual aspects of wellbeing. I went through a traumatic pregnancy at the age of 19 and contracted the disease from a blood transfusion that I needed to stay alive. Instead of letting the disease overcome me with feelings of shame and unworthiness, I sought ways to rebuild my life in wholesome ways for the very first time. Feng Shui was one of them.

One afternoon while looking for books on Ayurveda at a bookshop in Miami, the book, Harmony by Design literally fell from the shelf. I was captivated by the title. The author, Andie SantoPietro, explained how purposeful interior design and object placement can benefit health, finances, relationships, and more. I was curious and instantly delighted to learn how. I dove right in.

I dedicated time to put myself in the center of my life and began intentionally pursuing harmony. Recognizing that my health was my true wealth, I felt the need to invest energy into things that truly fulfilled me.

 

Embracing Spiritual Growth and Healing

My journey with Hepatitis C went beyond the physical illness. It unearthed buried emotional traumas, such as rejection by my father and the departure of my son’s biological father. Upon successfully eradicating the virus in 2016, I was confronted with overwhelming emotions. My vessel felt empty and I yearned to express my new sense of freedom. This experience encouraged me to redefine my identity and reaffirm my capacity to bring goodness and harmony into my own life and the lives of my loved ones.

 

Feng Shui as a Path to Harmony

Seeking ways to cope with the new challenges that life presented, I turned to Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese design system of harmonizing the environment. I discovered that the arrangement of objects and the energy flow in my surroundings significantly impacted my overall wellbeing. By transforming my home into a sanctuary for healing and repose, I harnessed the powerful wisdom of Feng Shui to create a beautiful and fulfilling life.

 

Creating Harmonious Spaces

I learned to position myself and my belongings in a way that harmonized with my energy by balancing the chakras. I realized that when my chakras were balanced and nurtured, I was less susceptible to disease and discomfort. By aligning my physical and emotional bodies, I could manifest a healthier and vibrant life. I was witnessing palpable results. This motivated me to apply Feng Shui principles to my work as a brand design consultant, helping my clients create harmonious spaces that support their personal and professional goals.

 

Listening to Your Body’s Wisdom

The key connection between Feng Shui and living in harmony is paying attention to our bodies and understanding their messages. By tuning into physical sensations and seeking appropriate care, we can address imbalances and prevent further dis-ease. This shift requires challenging the societal conditioning that often prioritizes others’ needs above our own, and embracing self-care as a fundamental aspect of wellbeing.

 

The Power of Intention and Mindful Design

When we listen to our bodies, we respond by making small shifts of intentional design. By considering the energy we want to create in our spaces, we can cultivate an environment that supports our goals and nurtures our wellbeing. The use of mirrors, colors, shapes, and other elements in Feng Shui and design can either enhance or hinder the flow of energy. Here are  some practical tips on how to align your physical spaces with your intentions.

Decluttering physically, mentally, and emotionally, plays a significant role in creating harmony. The release of material possessions and emotional stress can lead to a sense of liberation, and even weight loss. I encourage you to let go of what no longer serves you, as holding on prevents new opportunities from entering your life. Replace unhealthy coping mechanisms with simple acts of self-care such as maintaining a balanced diet and engaging in calming activities before bedtime to foster a peaceful state of mind.
