Many of us struggle balancing work, health, relationships, and creative pursuits in our busy lives. When we find ourselves constricted by a tight schedule and extensive to-do lists, maintaining balanced energy is essential to finding harmony and success in all that we do.
I recently had a wonderful conversation with Jaya Jaya Myra on her podcast, Practical Wellness. We had an in-depth discussion about how we can build harmony in our lives via our physical spaces, and some of the practical yet impactful shifts we can create using the energy-shifting methods of Feng Shui.
The energy in your environment has a tremendous impact on your overall wellbeing, so it’s important to create a harmonious space that supports you in your goals. This may seem like an overwhelming ambition at first, but with a few simple shifts of awareness and intention, you can begin to bring effortless order and simplicity into every facet of your life.
Pinpoint the stressors in your life
When you feel that your life may be out of balance, the first step is to identify the stressors. Take some time to reflect and find the areas of your life that are causing stress and anxiety. Once you’ve identified these areas, you can start pinpointing the spaces in your home where these stresses are taking place.
Work with your heart center
Once you’ve identified the stressors, it’s time to bring it back into your heart center. This means finding ways to alleviate the stress and anxiety that are causing discomfort in your life. The home is a reflection of your state of mind, so finding ways to declutter and create a nurturing environment can help you feel more at ease and in control.
Make small, impactful changes to your space
Small improvements to your space can have a big impact on your energy levels. For example, the bedroom is a crucial space for creating harmony in your life. Make it a mini sanctuary by decluttering and inviting new energy that can comfort whatever is going on in your mind and in your heart.
If you have a home office, consider the way you feel when you see piles of paperwork and mail that you need to take care of. When small tasks and stressors begin to pile up, it can feel overwhelming to get anything done. You can maintain a balanced workflow by taking care of one task at a time. Rather than blocking off a whole weekend to tackle a major chore, address each stressor as it presents itself. If you have a pile to get through, simply prioritize what really needs to be done first, and then plan for the rest.
Harmonize your life with Feng Shui
Feng shui is an ancient Chinese design method that uses the flow of energy to balance and harmonize the environment. Working with the principles of Feng Shui can help you pinpoint specific areas of your life that are calling for an energy shift, whether it’s in your home, in your relationships, or your overall wellbeing.
One of the most impactful changes I’ve made in my life is working with Feng Shui to balance my life and emotional health. When I was 19, I was pregnant with my first born. After giving birth to my son, I contracted Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion. My life had been turned upside down. At that time, there was no real cure for this virus. It was something that I couldn’t manage, but I was able to find comfort with that lack of control. I asked myself ‘how can I harmonize my life in order to cope with this disease?’
I accepted that I had to live with Hep-C, and took on the challenge of living a harmonious life instead of looking the other way.
Working with Feng Shui, holistic modalities and ayurvedic practices began to transform my life, all the way to my heart. I found that below the physical discomfort of the disease, I needed to release dis-ease from my mind. I had to learn how to take better care of myself during those challenging years, to create a harmonious environment that supported a happy marriage and a healthy family.
Feng Shui showed me that everything in life is interconnected. I learned how certain organs correlate with specific exterior spaces, colors, elements, directions, and even family members. Every sector of my life influences the others. Feng Shui combined with the Chakra energy system was a life-changing revelation. I saw my emotional, physical, and even spiritual life compartmentalized in a grid.
It was like a pin needle pointing exactly where I needed to look. I was dealing with Hep-C and that is all about the Will center, the third Chakra, the solar plexus. It affects the liver, the stomach, and the digestive system. I began working with holistic practices to nurture my liver, and paying attention to other areas of life that would complement that energy in my home, my mindset, and overall health.
Conclusion
Harmonizing your life requires taking a holistic approach to your wellbeing. Small changes to your space, pinpointing stressors, and working with your heart center can all contribute to a harmonious environment. By working with the principles of Feng Shui, you can create a space that fosters positive energy, helps you feel more at ease, and in control of your life. Take time to find stillness before making your next move, prioritize what’s most important, and remember that small changes can lead to huge, tremendous change.
