Feng Shui for Health: How to Activate and Open Manipura

Zenotica Feng Shui for Health: How to Activate and Open Manipura

Hepatitis-C affected my body for 26 years, and as you may be aware, Hepatitis-C is a chronic illness that affects the liver. Six years ago, I underwent a medical treatment that helped me eradicate this virus. Through all those years living with Hep-C, I was lucky to have been able to care for myself holistically through practices such as Ayurveda, Kriya Yoga, herbal medicine, Acupuncture, Chi gong, Feng Shui, vegetarianism, and clearing my life from toxic chemicals just to name a few! Through these practices, I have found ways to use Feng Shui for my Health.

Yes, this sounds like a lot of work, but I had a purpose: I wanted to live the best life possible, even if it meant coexisting with the virus for the rest of my life. Those 26 years were a vulnerable phase for me. On the positive side, the virus became one of my greatest teachers. It woke me up and motivated me to find ways to balance my life. First, I had to find balance within myself. I had to pay attention to my emotions, habits, thoughts, and patterns that kept recurring in my life.

Together we will explore some Feng Shui tips to enhance your Third Chakra and a few ways to harmonize your liver to help balance the Manipura Chakra.

What is the Manipura Chakra?

You can find the Will Center, aka the Third Chakra or Manipura Chakra in Sanskrit, in the solar plexus area around the torso. Manipura is associated with the liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, and the adrenal glands in the body. This Chakra is also associated with the element of fire.

The liver is the chief of energy flow in the body, and it has a direct effect on our health and emotions. As naturopathic doctor, Dr. Kim Lee states, “The liver is said to be the ‘energy of the personality,’ and it has a direct impact on our health. The liver is a waste organ, along with the kidneys, lungs, colon, and skin. It functions as a detoxifying organ that absorbs poisons and toxic substances before neutralizing them. The liver is responsible for processing chemicals, toxins, medications, alcohol, and hormones. The liver aids in our digestion of food and our digestion of emotions.

In essence, the Will Center guides all the energy you need to move forward and be in command of your life.

Feng Shui and Chakra Energy System Tips

Spring is the season to detox and nourish your SUN Center: The Will Chakra, your Career & Life Journey area in your environment.
Let’s explore practical ways to use Feng Shui and the Chakra Energy System to help address this area:

    • Benefit from the energies of Spring to refresh, rejuvenate, and revitalize. You will also feel more balanced as you’re flowing with the natural rhythm of life as it’s beginning to sprout.
    • • In Feng Shui, the symbol for Spring is Wood. It’s the ideal moment for making a fresh start. Before you get started, I highly recommend decluttering and cleaning your space. This may sound redundant but I promise you, the act of giving your home space to breathe is miraculous. Clutter creates and accumulates stagnation and dross. It also increases anxiety.
    • Do you have the confidence to move forward? Pay attention to your front entrance whether that is the one of your home, office, or bedroom. Does the door open freely and without squeaks? Clean it, refinish it, or consider replacing the handles. Sweep off the area and add an inviting door mat.
    • If you want more opportunities to flow into your life, pay attention to where this area is situated in your home. The Career or Life Journey area correlates to all matters related to job or career advancements, hobbies, and passion projects. It also corresponds to your Life Mission. What is it that you aspire to do? Have you neglected your dreams?

    • Spring is a great time to begin new projects, especially creative projects that light you up. One fun project to do with children is to take photos of plants and watch them grow. Create a scrapbook with your kids. This can potentially become a science project for school. Win-win. 😉

Shedding light on this topic is important to share with you as my focus this year is to nourish and sustain better health, build high-immunity, and raise awareness about the benefits of Feng Shui combined with the Chakras to achieve optimal Health. This is my go-to modality for harmonizing the inner-and-outer-environments.

When utilizing and mindfully working with these complementary holistic methods, Life tends to flow better. It’s what I call, Living in Harmony, and it’s what I’m passionate about. I’ve been practicing Feng Shui for Health for over 22 years, and it is purely a fundamental part of my life and my work.

Good Shui Tips

I’m excited to share this wisdom and applied knowledge with you:

    • • Use the element of Wood in your space. Repot plants, add more colorful flowers, lights, candles, or mirrors to areas that are dim or dark.
    • • Add a water fountain or add a Water symbol to the main entrance of your home such as artwork depicting an easy flow of water.
    • • The colors that represent Water are black, navy and midnight blue, and dark gray. Water symbolizes flow, abundance, and wealth.
    • • The colors that represent Wood are greens and lighter blues, such as aquamarine and sky blue.

Tips to Harmonize and Nourish Your Liver

love your liver

As you can see, I am deeply connected to the liver. It is a part of my life story and my healing journey. To help you heal, I’m sharing some tips below that have helped me to harmonize and nourish my liver:

    • • An easy way to inspire and enhance immunity is to wear green colors like forest green, emerald green, or ocean blues like turquoise and aquamarine.
    • Nourish your liver by eating lots of leafy greens. I recommend washing your greens with a dot of white vinegar in a large container with water. This helps dispel left-over radicals. Adding a tiny dash of soap to the water also works.
    • Wear and eat “yellow” to enhance vitality. Wearing the color of gold is also very cheerful.
    • Add turmeric and a dash of pepper to your hot lemon tea and drink it as soon as you wake up. Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory properties that help the liver from becoming over-active.
    • • If you feel sluggish, your liver may be under-active. You may not have the energy or the “will” to go on with your projects and focus on your goals. Taking time to rest and sleeping enough hours for your body to replenish energy is the most practical remedy.
    • An out-of-balance liver is often connected with Anger. Talk about having a hot temper! I can surely attest to that. Take a look at the things that are irritating you and see how you can change them. Start with you first as you will be disappointed if you are expecting others to change. Set a good and compassionate example for yourself and others.
    • • One of the best remedies for releasing anger is to learn to let go of grudges. As the song goes, Let It Go! Working on your emotions and healing your heart is the kindest and most compassionate deed you can do for yourself. You will breathe and sleep better.

Crystal Healing

My favorite Crystal to use to heal, harmonize, and nourish the liver is the easy-to-get crystal, Citrine! It’s associated with the fire element and can help with clarity, confidence, creativity, manifestation, and will.

Citrine promotes confidence and activates clear thinking to overcome challenges and move towards a positive mood. It can assist with your will center, helping you overcome ill-motivation, depressive mood, and more.

Essential Oil Healing

Essential oils can be an amazing energy booster for both your inner and outer spaces. You can transform your energy in the moment by inhaling or diffusing an essential oil for emotion balancing and healing. My favorites are from my dear friend, award-winning formulator, Adora Winquist. Here is what Adora says about Lemon essential oil, which I believe is very powerful in healing and harmonizing the liver:

“Lemon is a medicine of freedom and liberation, clearing tangles of distorted energy from the mental and emotional bodies and illuminating the brain with clarity, focus, and concentration. Lemon’s light and bright aromatic molecules help to energize at the cellular level, clearing away heavy or distorted energy and emotion.

This is particularly helpful to clear the Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura light wheel, where lower frequency energy and beliefs about the self are stored. This area also tends to have tangled relational chords from power struggles that were initiated by the early childhood and family dynamics and then repeated through current life patterns until cleared. Lemon is immensely helpful in this area with its laser-focused clarity and cleansing vibration. The biochemical nature of lemon increases circulation and drainage for the lymphatic system and is also helpful to balance the digestive system, particularly when the pH of the terrain is unbalanced.”

By combining and working with Feng Shui and the Chakra Energy System to attune to the emotional, spiritual, and physical attributes, you will learn to trust your intuition more, to trust your senses more, to observe your environment with a different lens.
Pay attention to the signals you’re receiving and assess your energy. This in turn will help improve your own health and that of your environment.
